Companies Hiring Software Engineers (Nov 2026 – Jan 2027)

Last updated: October 31, 2026. Hiring data changes weekly — numbers below are dated to their sources. We refresh this page monthly.

Yes, tech is hiring right now — 423 new US software engineering roles were posted in the week ending October 30, 2026, and India hit a record 1,30,000 open tech jobs for November. The market is not in a freeze: it is split. AI companies, large platforms and product engineering teams are opening roles while other teams stay cautious. This page lists who is hiring right now, what the November-to-January cycle looks like, and how to use the next eight weeks to walk into those interviews ready.

Which companies are hiring right now?

In the seven days ending October 30, 2026, 219 employers posted 423 new software engineering roles in the US alone. The top posters were:

Company New US SWE roles (week ending Oct 30) Interview question bank
Netflix 53 Netflix questions
Walmart 16 Walmart questions
ClickUp 6 —
1Password 6 —
Affirm 5 —
Anthropic 5 Anthropic questions
Honeycomb.io 5 —

Netflix alone accounted for 12.5% of all new US postings that week — 53 roles from a single employer, more than any other company in the index. Fintech (Affirm), developer tools (ClickUp), security (1Password) and AI labs (Anthropic) all appear in the top ten, so the demand is spread across product, infrastructure and AI teams rather than concentrated in one corner of the market.

The same pattern holds at Adyen, which told investors on October 28, 2026 that it plans to add 1,000–1,100 engineering and go-to-market roles this year, with 426 full-time hires already made by Q3.

Are AI companies hiring?

Yes — AI is the strongest hiring segment of late 2026. On October 6, 2026, ten AI companies had 2,246 open roles between them on their own job boards:

  • OpenAI — 820 open roles (software engineer, developer productivity: $210K–$490K)
  • Anthropic — 642 open roles (model performance engineer bands start at $405,000)
  • Perplexity, Scale AI, Lambda, Glean, Modal, Character.AI, Writer, Decagon — hundreds more, mostly in San Francisco and New York

If you are targeting AI labs, the interview bar is the same DSA and system design loop as FAANG — just faster-moving. InterviewSkool calibrates mock problems to Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft and AI-lab difficulty so you can practice at the level these companies actually ask.

Is India hiring in November 2026?

India's tech market is at a record: 1,30,000 active tech job openings for November 2026, up 27% year-on-year and 6% from October, according to Xpheno's Active Tech Jobs Outlook (via ETHRWorld, October 29, 2026). Technology roles now account for 52% of all active talent demand in the country.

By city, the openings break down as:

  • Bengaluru — 35,000 openings (the leader, up 30% year-on-year)
  • Hyderabad — 16,000
  • Delhi NCR and Chennai — 10,000 each
  • Mumbai — 8,000
  • Pune — 7,000

Megacities together hold 95,000 openings, about 73% of national demand. For the ~60,000 Microsoft employees offered voluntary exit packages across the US, India, UK and Canada — India's deadline is reported as December 1 — this is the best Indian hiring market since the 2021–22 boom. If you are deciding whether to take the package, read our Microsoft voluntary exit breakdown first; the India-specific notice-period and immediate-joiner angle matters.

Are companies hiring new grads and interns?

Yes, strongly. In the week of October 26 – November 1, 2026, 1,168 new internship and new-grad software engineering roles were listed across 430 companies (703 internships, 465 new-grad roles). Of those, 7% were remote and 27% were labelled as sponsoring or likely to sponsor H-1B visas.

The biggest new-grad posters were Northrop Grumman (26), AECOM (24), Visa (24), Bosch (21), Shield AI (21), Booz Allen (19), Raytheon (19) and HP (17). Defense and hardware companies are hiring new grads at a pace consumer tech is not.

Do companies hire in December?

Yes, but slower. December postings drop as budgets close and interviewers take leave — decisions that start in November often finish in January. The practical play: apply and interview in November and early December, expect offers in January. Companies open headcount again in the new year, and candidates who spent December practising walk into January loops while others are still updating resumes.

If you were laid off or exited this year, you are competing against a larger-than-usual pool — PayPal's cuts and Uber's restructuring added thousands of engineers to the market. The differentiator is not your resume, it is performance under interview conditions.

How to use the next 8 weeks (November – January)

Here is the eight-week plan InterviewSkool readers are using for the Nov-2026-to-Jan-2027 cycle:

Week 1 — Pick targets. Choose 3–5 companies from the list above and open their question bank: Netflix, Walmart, Anthropic, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta. Every entry is a real question asked at that company.

Weeks 2–4 — DSA under pressure. One pattern a day, then solve out loud. Knowing the answer is not the same as giving it with a timer running — InterviewSkool's AI interviewer Alex runs real conditions: follow-up questions, hidden test cases, a scored report at the end. Try the free demo in twenty minutes and find your weak spots before a real interviewer does.

Week 5 — System design. If you are targeting SDE-2 or above, expect a design round. Work through our system design case studies every other day.

Weeks 6–8 — Behavioural and loops. Prepare 6–8 STAR stories, including "why did you leave?" — a voluntary exit or layoff has a short, positive answer. Then run full mock loops. If you were laid off this year, InterviewSkool gives you a free interview credit — claim it on the layoff support page.

Why does this hiring data matter for interview prep?

Because the market rewards performance, not just presence. Record openings mean more interviews, not easier ones — and 2026 interview loops run with higher bars because more experienced engineers are applying. AI tools come up in interviews now ("how have you used AI at work?"), some coding rounds allow AI assistants and judge how you steer them, and system design expectations at mid-level keep rising. Practising under real conditions — voice follow-ups, time pressure, hidden tests — is what separates a callback from a rejection, and that is exactly what InterviewSkool's mock interviews simulate.
